Customer returned wrong item
I should just let this go but letting someone away with a con, or more likely in this case, utter stupidity, goes against my nature.
The customer ordered a plastic water container, cheap, £10, nothing extravagant or expensive. They then put in return request saying the “lid was too big”.
This could not be correct as it was our biggest container and we don’t have any bigger lids.
I expected it was an excuse to get the freebie return label.
So we paid for the return and the customer sent us back an Automatic water dispenser, an Electric water bottle pump.
It sells for a similar price of £10 so I cannot see an angle for a con, I do see an expanse of space for utter stupidity though.
I know, it should just be written off and get on with it, life is just too short to worry, but its very galling that a customer can have us pay for a return of someone else’s item, or possibly someone else’s faulty item, and yet Amazon do not give us any opportunity to report the mistake in the return process. And they obviously have refunded on first scan. I suppose we should be grateful we didn’t just receive a brick wrapped up.
I guess we could go to SS and report it but we all know how talking to them, trying to explain the situation, can make a long day very short, or a short day very long.
I guess sellers just have to suck it up when it comes to these issues. It would be nice though if amazon even gave us an opportunity to comment on the returns and actually read them sometimes.

But we are getting lots of wrong items sent, im now under the impression people are buying so much stuff on amazon and return requests open that they have no idea who is being posted to who. and we get the most strange items returned.

And the strangest thing is that when we tell customers they sent the wrong item back, they never get back to us. I’ve not had one that has got back to us, ever.
Some returned items are useful. Garden kneeler, slushy maker, giant dog bed (we don’t have a dog but a friend did)
Some have to be disposed of.
