Amazon Catalog change nightmare: Can't change manufacturer because our UK account won contribution
Our team tried to add product as variant in a family when we discovered one product had the manufacturer mispelled so we contacted Seller Support to fix. They, in turn, suggested we delete the listing and reupload. But we could not do that because for some reason our account in the UK is locking modification for that field even though we don't have the product listed in the UK. For the record, we are the manufacturer as well.
Here is a summary of what happened:
Amazon USA Seller Support: Delete the listing and reupload with correct manufactuer.
Our Team: We tried that, and manufacuter still mispelled
Amazon USA Seller Support: Ok, follow instructions to correct only the manufactuer information
Our Team: I did and I came across this message: The contribution is won by another Brand Steward. The attribute Manufacturer Name you would like to update for this ASIN has already been claimed by another representative of the brand. While we are unable to make updates per your request, we recommend that you reach out to the account of the winning contributor in order to agree on the changes.
Amazon USA Seller Support: You have to contact that merchant to discuss. (and they gave me the merchant token)
Our Team: That is our UK merchant number.
Amazon Brand Registry: Go ahead and correct manufacturer information in UK and it should reflect the change,.
Our Team: I don't even have the product listed in the UK. How do I correct catalog entry for a product not even listed
Amazon Brand Registry: No problem, Delete the product from Amazon USA for 24 hours and that should do it.
Our Team: I already tried that and it did not work 🤦
