Alarming Increase in INR (Item Not Received) Claims

Recently, we've noticed an alarming increase in INR (Item Not Received) claims here on Amazon. Although we use Amazon Buy Shipping labels, I'm concerned about this rise. Has anyone else experienced a similar increase lately?

Thanks in advance for any input. Wishing everyone good sales ahead!

Sometimes something will go around on social media telling people how to get free stuff from Amazon.

Simply instruct these people to file A-Z claims for INR, and let Amazon deal with it. If they do it once or twice, Amazon will fund the claim and not take it from your funds. If the same person does it too many times, Amazon will quit refunding, and close the A-Z in your favor (so you never refund them). And at some point, Amazon will quit letting them make purchases (I've had twice in 10 years of getting a message to not ship an order, as the buyer has lost their privilege to purchase on Amazon)

Yep, I've noticed an increased number of the same "didn't receive item, please send replacement" messages (verbatim) which is when I suspect fraud but also why why I only use Amazon shipping. I instruct customer to reach out to Amazon directly for next steps. If an A-to-Z claim is filed, you're 100% protected (at least according to current policy guarantees).

Hi @Seller_x5etX5efbCVf9

I love your handle!

I have seen an increase in posts about INR claims. I am dropping a link to the help page here in case other sellers are not aware of the program to protect against INR claims.

I don't worry about them because I know amazon covers them but it is absolutely ridiculous. had one recently that was totally unsurprising from a rather expensive sale (141 dollars). went through the usual motions of having them file a claim and they were hesitatnt, calling customer service instead and bugging me for the refund. that's already a red flag as is, but then she finally relented and filed a claim, and you can tell if its a habitual INR claimant becuase you'll see the claim as its not auto refunded. so it came back as declined because "the buyer didn't provide the additional requested information." then another one was filed. same story. they file the claims then never check their emails. now after the second decline she miraculously found the item but its broken and she needs a refund for that. sure - I believe that one. I just marked as suspicious and did not engage further.

If you're shipping USPS there is your answer. I use to ship a lot with UPS using buy shipping, but with the new forced OTDR I have been shipping 90% with USPS and packages are not arriving or getting hung up in distribution centers for weeks. My delivery times are being extended by 4-8 days and packages getting lost. But hey! I have Buy now protection for OTDR... My repeat customers are probably like why is it taking 8 days to get a 4 oz item when it only use to take 3-4 days...

if you think you have been targeted, and it sounds like you have been, you need to google "chimecles walmart ORC class action".

And what are the items? Are they all the same one, or a group of types, etc?

Me too. Looks like they follow a script. All sound the same. Buy postage from Amazon and tell them to file an A to Z claim which they don't like to do for some reason.

Yes, an alarming increase in fraud. We have had 15 chargebacks in 2024, all successfully defended, all fraud. We have had 44 A-Z claims in 2024, all but one was fraud, and all but one was successfully defended. We always report the buyer for fraud. The triangle goes like this. They sell a product on Walmart that you are selling on Amazon, put their buyer's name and address in the order. You ship it to their buyer and a week after delivery they say they have yet to receive it. We ALWAYS use Amazon buy shipping and we are protected. Maybe someday Amazon will figure out how to shut it down.
