is Returns Evaluation a Good option or not...

Hi everyone, I am trying to get some information on what they think about having your "Returns evaluation by amazon " enabled and whether people have the enabled and disabled and why..

I am trying to decide if i should turn this setting off or not and what some of the pros and cons of this option are

We have returns evaluation enabled. The cost of disposing or returning each returned item adds up quickly. This saves some of those costs by having Amazon evaluate your product. That said, they can't be expected to be an expert on every product in Amazon's catalog, so yes, mistakes will happen and imperfect products will get back into your inventory.

We noticed that quite a bit of inventory was being marked as unsellable and then disposed as per our settings.

We then changed our disposal setting to 'return to us' as the cost of disposal was the same as returning it to us. We noticed that 40-50% of items that were returned to us, were sellable as is or with some clean up and/or new boxes. It's worth it for our business to have returns evaluation enabled and then take the extra steps and time to evaluate and recover the unsellable inventory ourselves instead of automatic disposal.

It depends somewhat on what you sell. There have been plenty of reports of sellers getting back completely different products (such as an old pair of shoes for a coffeemaker they sold) and FBA accepts the returns....

Understand that FBA is understaffed at every warehouse. People there are worked in such a way, that they can't lose time on anything. So often the return is not even looked at at all. If those "shoes" go back into your inventory there will be issues. An unhappy buyer getting these can affect your account health. In the same way, perfectly good returns may end up getting destroyed.
