Invoice Defect Rate email

I am not VAT registered and have never been as our turnover is well below the threshold. We sell on FBA in the UK and USA: last December I got an automated email to say that our VAT exemption has been removed; After many to and fros with seller support it was reinstated but the auto invoice generation was not and when I try and subsribe in the settings it says I am not eligiblie for it (I had it for years and years before this). When I asked seller support they said they said that the VAT exemption doesnt guarantee automated receipt generation which is determined by an internal algorithm. They can't manually reactivate it because it is an automated process.

This morning I got an email to say that my defect rate is over 5% because I forgot to add a receipt for a business customer for a couple of days. And it said that my account might be de-activated if I don't improve

Is there a way I can stop selling to business customers on Amazon? If not is there any solution to this as I'm concerned that I might either miss another during busy times or be out of the office and physically unable to do it for a few days (e.g. if I go on holiday).

Panicking a bit and not sure how to deal with this - any help appreciated. TIA

Cannot help with the automated invoice/receipt issue, but NO, you cannot stop selling to business customers.

Hi @K_CCD1 ,

I'm sorry to hear that this has happened.

As per this help page on Invoice Defect Rate, it appears that unfortunately, you cannot chose not to sell to Amazon Business customers.

In case this is useful, I'm sharing here a page on another way you could automate this process, via a solution provider. I know this might come at a cost but if you believe it could be best for your business, then at least you have that option.

Wishing you best of luck in the future.

Ange from Amazon.
