Could you show your advertising costs etc but blank out the important parts so we can get the full picture?

TBH I have not had much luck with Amazon Advertising either
Amazon often send me messages about how I could increase sales by 20% or whatever and I followed their advice but hardly saw any increase in sales - certainly not enough to justify the advertising cost which was often higher than the increased sales.
It obviously depends a lot on the products you are selling and whether it is niche or unique to you.
Have you tried just not using Amazon Advertising and seeing how well your items sell without it anyway? At least that way you will get a feel for what budget may be best to use to preserve profit.
And although you cannot have links in Amazon listings you can have links to your Amazon products in places like facebook so you may want to consider that method instead.

Amazon recommendation to increase sales is to push you to advertise more or to increase your ads spend and in most cases it will benefit Amazon more if any at all will benefit the sellers.
Reduce your ads spend below what Amazon would recommend you to use, see how that goes if you are still loosing money you can get a professional to help you out and optimise your ads, or you can just stop your ads. It some times better to suspend ads and sell 2 products per day and make a profit then selling 20 per day and break even or in many cases make a loss when using ads

Are you checking the ads and seeing where the money is going? If you look into that you can amend them accordingly.
What type of ads are you running? Display can bleed money if you don't do it right.
Have you been on any of the webinars for tips on best use of advertising?

I am having this problem since last 2 years too, no way you can win with Amazon, they just take your money regardless weather you make a sale or not, the competition is huge hence you cannot win with advertising. Amazon advertising became like a casino game, You will lose for sure.

our strategy is to only pay a max of 2p per click. That's the minimum they allow. We do get some sales from advertising, and don't overpay. Why pay loads of money for just a click? Lots of people will browse the page and not buy.
We feel that the other big online marketplace has a much fairer pricing structure of only charging a percentage if you make a sale. No sale, no fee.

thank you guys for all of your support.
In the past two years, we have been trying all sorts method to reduce the ads costs such as:
1. set portfolio daily budget, for example, we set portfolio daily budget £60/day. you would thought a week ads cost will be £420. But Amazon actually charges us just over £607. we try to call amazon to explain what are the reason behind the charges, they cancelled the call. we raise a case about the charge, they advise Amazon charges are correct, and they charge by click.
2. we follow Amazon suggested click charge and key word
3. we do market research on competition and make sure our price is competitive than most major sellers.
We notice from early this year, Amazon has zeroed all of our ads history from 1st Jan.
our monthly sales from since this Jan is between £6K to £4K per month, however now we are owing Amazon money since Aug.
how could this be?
