40 units lost, SPD shipment marked as “unexpected FNSKU” but we used Manufacturer Barcodes!?
Hey all, I could really use some help here. I’m totally stuck with this SPD shipment (FBA18TY38R68) where all 40 units are marked as “unexpected FNSKU” — but here’s the thing:
- We used manufacturer barcodes (NOT Amazon barcodes).
- Shipment was created properly through Send to Amazon using Amazon Partnered Carrier (SPD).
- ASIN and FNSKU in the plan were correct.
I’ve submitted all invoices, opened a case (ID 17678183271) back on May 2, and still — no real answer. Just templated replies saying there’s a shipping plan error.
But that makes no sense, because when we choose manufacturer barcodes, Amazon is supposed to track and receive inventory using those UPCs, right? So how can the same ASIN/FNSKU be "unexpected"?
Even worse — the shipment was closed on April 3, and I’m still without inventory or reimbursement. This has really impacted our operations.

Why do you think that? Since they DID receive: 40 units, but they were unexpected. Go look in your shipment in seller central, how many units did you send? It's not possible that you created a shipping plan with zero units?
If the units were unexpected they are somewhere now. Go look in your "Manage Inventory" if you find them under stranded, Reserved or wherever. they exist but the system can't identify them.
Maybe the UPC on the packaging doesn't match that ASIN. YOU have to set this before creating a shipping plan. If it's set to Amazon barcode and you send manufacturer barcode: the system can't identify the units.
Maybe your shipping plan was set to "Amazon barcode".

Too many problems going on here as the same time.
1. FNSKU is Amazon stock number that only Amazon uses to sort and find your product located somewhere in the FBA netwok. That number is the one Amazon bots use to find the exact product. Don't mix that number up with others.
2. Is the manufacturer's UPC actually valid? A lot of China companies simply make us a number for their product to be sold in the USA. There numbers are not registered with GS1, they are simply bogus.
When Amazon bots scan the UPC and it comes back as invalid the bot rejects the product as fake or knockoff, and it should be disposed of.
Is your manufacturer's UPC valid or fake. Enter your UPC number in the google browser window. What comes up? The product or something else? If your product does not display, you have a problem.
