Delivery promise dates
Delivery promise options for standard shipping are:
2-3 days or
2-4 days or
5-8 days
I live on the East Coast. About half my orders go to the West Coast.
It takes 5 days to get my packages from here to the West Coast.
This forces me to choose 5 - 8 days delivery promise for all customers.
Even my customers that live in the next state over see these dates.
Make it make sense!
Why not a more rational set of dates depending on distance or zones from our warehouse to the customer?

$$$$$$. Amazon makes money on commissions (fees) for your sales. If they show slower delivery dates THEY lose the money that they think they should/would get if the dates were faster.
That's why they have destroyed thousands of acres of land putting up warehouses so that THEIR buyers can get things in two hours!
They don't care if you have to lose money to get it out the door and to someone quicker.
