How Are You Making Your Amazon Business More Sustainable? 🌳🌲🍃

Hey everyone! 👋

With sustainability becoming a bigger focus for shoppers, I’m curious about what other Amazon Sellers are doing to make their businesses more eco-friendly.

Whether it’s reducing packaging waste 📦, using greener shipping options 🚚, or sourcing more sustainable products ♻, I’d love to hear your ideas and experiences!

Here the main takeaways from the last Amazon's Sustainability Report, in case you are interested.

Best,

Simon

Being allowed to merge separate sequential orders to the same address (like amazon can) without fear of reprisals would be nice.

I have constant issues with Amazon returning my stock or forcing me to remove it due to some ridiculous suspected intellectual property issue that I can't resolve.

Amazon often makes labelling issues that no responsibility is taken for. Seller Support are so unhelpful I end up having to get it returned. If this happens in the EU I have to pay to get it destroyed.

It then has to be returned to FBA.

None of this is very green.

I have done climate partner for 1 year.

They are supposed to offset all emersions.

But i stopped this program.

They are a big money making business. Very expensive. And very bad customer service. They want crazy moneys.

And i did not feel that it brought any more sales.

So i tried... and anyone considering climate partner - do not do it....

With our new returns system, we have customers send us a photo of the defective product and the order number written down, rather than having them mail it back.

Customers have the option to keep or dispose of the defective electronics, and we have started telling customers: If you need help finding a place to recycle these electronics, just let me know!

This creates positive customer engagement while also helping us reduce environmental impact!

I wonder how much time and electricity is wasted by seller support pasting in a random template when they neither understand your issue, let alone how to resolve it? It may only be a tiny amount of wasted energy each time, but if its happening to every seller, and there are tens of thousands in the UK - with me having no doubts this must be an issue around the globe - Perhaps climate change is being pushed over the edge by the sheer size of Amazon and is gross ineficciency when it comes to the support it provides its sellers.

Reduce returns by:

- correct misleading listings. Listings must be accurate, photos must be of the actual product as sold. But Amazon expects the brand owner to come forward even when they have never been on Amazon and we can provide all the information backing our requested changes.

- do not automatically approve returns for items that shouldn't be returned if used. Like a box of incense half burned because the buyer didn't like the scent. An open lotion bottle that customer didn't like. This stuff goes straight in the bin anyway.

Where possible we use Eco-Friendly packaging. The envelopes we use are made from 100% paper and are 100% recyclable, the packing peanuts used for packing are made from starch and 100% biodegradable.
