Locked Attribute - Seller Support suggests deleting and relisting

So I need to update the 'fabric type' attribute on one of my listings (I am the brand owner), but the attribute is locked. Seller Support is advising me to delete and relist, but I've never done this before, so I'm nervous about doing that. Are there any issues I could run into if I delete and relist? Here is the message I received from Seller Support:

"As you mentioned it is a locked attribute ,to make changes to the locked attribute you need to delete your product listing, wait 24 hours, and then relist the product with the correct information.

Deleting and relisting the product with the exact seller SKU will not affect your existing FBA inventory (if any), ASIN sales history, or reviews.

Once you relist you need to update the desired attribute, you can either click “Edit” (on the right side of your listings) from your Manage Inventory dashboard or submit a fully updated inventory file (enter “update” in the Update/Delete column) with all attributes filled in with the correct information."

If you followed this, you'd be in the same boat ... a locked attribute. It does mention "or submit a fully updated inventory file ...", but that should be mentioned first.

My experience has been that this doesn't work, but you need to try anyway.

Hello @Seller_zvCb49ef8z3EE,

Michelle at Amazon here. I am sorry that you are having issues updating your listing. Please try upload a full inventory file that is category specific as suggested by @Seller_J46Ruz3VzvWCV as this is the best way to get your listing to update since you are the brand owner. If that doesn't work, please follow the instructions provided by Seller Support and provide me with the case ID if that doesn't work.

Regards,

Michelle
