Royal Mail 2nd Class Compensation

Does anybody know how Royal Mail compensation works when buying labels via Amazon FBM.

According to RM :

Every 2nd Class item is covered against loss or damage up to £20 or the value of the item, whichever is lower. *Compensation for valuables, such as money and jewellery is not available on this service

However, when making a claim with RM, they reply back with:

On this occasion I am not able to accept your claim for compensation, as the service used was a prepaid contract service and all claims must be made by the contract holder. I do recommend you contact them to discuss this issue further.

So I presume I have to go through Amazon, but anybody know how ?

thanks ;-)

Amazon will tell you to claim via Royal Mail unfortunately, it’s been this way for a few years, at this point can only assume it’s a scam cooked up between the two of them.

If your having a lot of problems or if you have just a few letter sized as opposed to LL size then best bet would be to stop using buy postage through amazon and open your own business account with RM and use there click and drop service. You cant use this if you are doing a lot of letter sized products (unless you bite the bullet and mark them as large letters about 30p extra). This then allows you to claim all your losses and vtr will be low but that should get corrected behind the scenes as 2nd class ll is covered. You can then claim direct with RM ad if you do 20+ Rm24/48 a week or more than app £15k a year your covered for free colection 5 days a week

i have noticed in past couple of days, when putting a royal mail claim in it has added a section for "did you purchase postage through a third party selling site" and allows you to fill those details in, but bear in mind last few claims i have done i have just been sent a book of 8 first class stamps regardless off claim for £2.99 item or £25 item. it seems they have stopped issuing cheques.

I am Spencer with Amazon.

I checked with our partner team and they sent you an email with instructions on how to file for .your claims.

This email was sent on April 6.

Let me know how it goes please.
