Product Not Allowed

Hello and not enjoying my journey to set up and Amazon shop.

Went to make my first listing on a product I sell in my shop. It asked for an invoice from that company which i attached and received an email that I am not allowed to sell that supplier's product. It was net curtain wire so standard product.

Where did I go wrong?

Are they a bona fide wholesaler? Maybe they do not want their retail customers selling on Amazon.

I have several suppliers with no Amazon and no Ebay rules. So best to check with your supplier.

Amazon speaks its own language so if you post the rejection someone might be able to point you in the right direction. E.G. were you rejected because the invoice didn't meet Amazon's invoice requirements or was it 'We're not accepting applications to sell... '

A net curtain sounds innocuous enough but the devil might be in the detail. E.G. if it is a branded item such as a Disney character net curtain then Amazon will expect you to have permission from Disney to sell their items on Amazon. As above some brands/suppliers may also have a no Amazon rule.

It is now getting more onerous on sellers to have permission to sell products on Amazon no matter what the product is.

Amazon have many existing listings that sellers are welcome to sell on and they are pretty much open for anyone if they are unbranded or if branded you must have consent from the brand owner to sell.

As a new listing, Amazon want to ensure the listing isn't already in the catalogue as a duplicate, therefore it maybe that they wanted to look at the invoice to ensure the item you are selling is genuine and not duplicated.

Now there could be a few reasons for rejections example

They may actually be refusing to sell the products from the particular supplier which could either be a decision from Amazon, a decision by the supplier or they may not have enough understanding of the supplier in order to allow it to come through.

There is now a lot of legislation on who is responsible for certain products and where to direct liability. As a seller it is now very difficult to create new product listings when they are not your products to create.

Also as you are a new seller with no track record with Amazon they are probably being extremely cautious of who is selling on the platform.

Sell on ebay instead no fees and nowhere near as complex as selling on Amazon
