FBA - how to actually do it!

Good morning guys,

If any of you have a spare minute, can you please paste the link below that shows me how to actually convert an item to FBA? I would like to trial it, but every time i search in SU I end up in a loop of watching the initial videos that tell me what FBA is and why it is a good thing but I cannot land on the link that says step by step, this is how you do it (i.e - select your item, click this drop down etc etc).

I have tried to progress through it by actually selecting an item and covert it but then I get to the first page and am confused (great progress…I know!) with the drop downs for ‘packing details’ and ‘information/action’. I am aware that these are as easy as breathing for those who do it regularly!

If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you kindly.

Sometimes it’s easier to search in help.

Also, depending on what and how much you ship via MFN and from your own site if you have one, you might be best to set up a direct account with UPS and get them to provide a daily collection (usually free).

We do this, using UPS for our own orders and FBA shipments, and it makes life much more straightforward. Just print the label from the Send to Amazon workflow, put the parcel out for collection, and we know it’ll go at about 4pm every day.

The FBA workflow changed a few months ago. Amazon did a webinar about this just the other day and they usually make the webinars available to view after the event. Have a look under past webinars and see if they’ve uploaded it yet.

On a side note, is there any VAT charged on FBA fees?

We don’t get charged VAT on referral fees as we are VAT registered but just wondering if this is the same for FBA Fees?

Good morning everyone

I have a highlighted tracking section on the FBA inventory, so it would appear I have completed the first stage correctly (we’ll wait and see if I got the dispatch label information correct when it gets there :eyes: ) Thank you to everyone who took the time to assist me.

I have a couple of further questions relating to cost please.

I understand, from looking on the FBA help search, that the ‘fees per unit’ for each item accommodate the cost of FBA in its entirety. Is this correct? E.g, one of my units has a £2.18 fee (per unit) which includes a £1.69 FBA fee. Does this cover ALL the FBA costs (storage, packing etc) or are there hidden costs that are paid separately? I have read a paragraph in the ‘help’ stating monthly fees are applicable for long term storage over 12 months, but nothing identifying any other monthly costs?

For those that use FBA, can you confirm if this fee (£2.18) is the same whether I send in 10 units or 1000 units? Or does it increase/decrease with quantity?

The reason I am asking this is because the calculation of profit, for this test item anyway, is less than if it was FBM and I am trying to gauge if this is due to quantities or if I need to set prices higher to achieve the same profit for the benefit of being FBA.

Many thanks

Depending on volumes I would also recommend trying Amazon Freight. We have been using them for all of 2022 and we have never had a missed or delayed shipment. they are also ludicrously cheap, circa £8-12 a pallet when doing a FTL.

Morning guys,
Hope you’re all set and able to enjoy the lovely weather today.

So my FBA seems to have been successful, however, I wonder if someone could please clarify the inventory table below.

When and how do the reserved units become available?

I have the table below showing in the ‘receiving’ section. Is this the journey of the box I sent in, or is it the box (30) split into 4 Amazon distribution centres and the other 22 have not reached them yet? Does this mean I will have to pay 4x storage fees as they will take up 4 different placements?

Many thanks

SALE!!! I did it correctly. Thank you guys for your help and guidance.

I have 2 questions if you would be so kind as to provide your experience. The item I have sent in is one of 3 scents.

Q1 - I have read that you can combine the shipment SKUs. Does this all go loosely into one box or does it have to be 3 separate boxes in 1 box?
Q2 - If I were to restock and send in scent 1. Can I combine it with scent 2 & 3 and would i follow the restock guidance?

Thank you

If not all units will fit in one box, quite often I have to send to multiple FC’s. I then get the below screenshot if I look on my shipment details (Using Send to Amazon)

Edit - I know that this is 2 SKU’s but they’re going to x3 FC’s

Hi everyone,

I am looking to send some other items to FBA. The screenshot below shows 3 scents of the same item. All in the same category etc. The 3rd listing is the item I have previously sent in. The 1st and 2nd are the different scents that I was converting to FBA. Do the fees change depending on the demand for the product? Otherwise i am confused why the one I have sent in previous has a higher fee than the other two.
