Brand Approval nightmare!

i have attempted to gain brand approval, for a designer brand i have sold previously , i never had a problem with the account, the items are genuine, all great feedback when i was able to sell the items for 2 years prior to the dreaded “your items are inactive, need to apply for brand approval”

i sold for 2 years my account and sales record was perfect, my items have now been inactive for 4 Years.

my Amazon account is in good health, it is just that i can not get the brand approval through, why would a designer allow you to sell his old stock (some several Years old), so a designer is not going to send youa latter saying “yes its fine you sell my old stock without me getting a commission”

what are Amazon doing here ?
i have even contacted Amazon CEO UK office, they were absolutely useless.

below is the last response i got from “customer service” ;

"We understand how important this must be for you to run the business and the urgent nature and I acknowledge the frustration that this issue might bring to you. I am here to help looking into the matter you are currently encountering.

We sincerely apologies for the confusion and inconvenience caused. Upon checking, To protect our customers and maintain their trust, we place selling restrictions on certain products. We may place restrictions to ensure that the products sold in our store are safe, authentic, or meet local and regional regulations.

For certain restrictions, Amazon requires sellers to submit an application through Seller Central for review. If your request is approved, you will be able to list the product. However, we may not accept applications for every product we place selling restrictions on.

Selling restrictions are either placed on individual products or groups of similar products (such as products belonging to the same brand). Selling restrictions may be placed on the following attributes:

  • Individual ASINs
  • Brands
  • Brands within a specific category
  • Categories
  • Subcategories

Some products may have overlapping selling restrictions that will require you to submit separate applications to become approved to sell a single product. For example, you might need to submit an application for the brand in addition to the subcategory that the brand is listed in.

Unfortunately, there is no other way to do so and the only way is to submit a selling applications for your listing in order to reactivate your listing. "

anyone ever got repeatedly turned down for brand approval and then found a way to gain approval?
or do i give up with Amazon and just carry on with other platforms

Unfortunately they are never very clear about what they really want. The polices can be confusing and Amazon likes to control what is sold on the platform and can be competition related? If none of your items fit into the prohibited items list or infringe any trademarks that not sure why it requires approval. Many seller register their own brands to stop hijackers from taking over your hard work in creating listings and purchasing EAN numbers etc. Recently Amazon pulled the rug underneath many sellers by removing products from search results because the EAN numbers are not GS1 approved. Many of the listings are over 10 years old before they introduced changes in the policy. All these policy changes actually cause alot of problems for many sellers especially when they have spend thousands of pounds in advertising material and branded packaging. No one at Amazon will tell you have to resolve the issue but you will go round and round in circles about the matter.

exactly right BM5, its ridiculous.
i have asked every department i can think of, and Amazon Uk CEO office to advise just what i need to do and how i need to do it, just get the stock response.

i have drawn the conclusion, as you did, that they just do not wish me to sell these items on their platform

cant really open another account to start again, so my items are blocked from one revenue channel.

ebay is fine, but Amazon seem far too precious about control.

the only thing i can think of is to get another Amazon seller to sell items for me.

i reiterate, my account has never had defects, it is good health, it is purely this brand of which i have a lot of money invested that i have no opportunity to sell on Amazon.

anyone with any alternative ideas, feel free to share.
