Sellers selling at a loss

I see some previous threads that are now "locked" by Amazon. There is a product listed that is selling for less than 10% of suggested retail price. It is literally pennies on the dollar. A name brand product selling everywhere for $30-60 no less. On Amazon it is listed for $8.28 free shipping. The only thing I can figure is that they are selling a box of 10 for the 'each' price. While they may not even know this is happening. I don't need any smart mouthed responses like the previous posters had to endure, I'm just trying to sell a product at a fair price and looking for insight.

Hopefully you don't see this as "smartmouthed", but there are a lot of sellers who sell at a loss; many (perhaps most) simply don't bother to do the math, and are unaware of the fact. There was one a few years back who sold at a loss for two years, never questioning why he never got paid, and didn't ask about it until hit with a $37K charge for the amount he had lost in fees (this is not even considering COGs).

There are also sellers who may be selling stolen goods; COG in this case is zero, so pure profit (although again, dumb to not maximize on the crime).

Still others may be dumping aged inventory; obviously, this doesn't apply to many categories.

In the end, there's really not much you can do to compete with sellers who are willing to sell at a loss.

Good Afternoon @Seller_qsGA9Bo5UmbFm,

Have you tried using the Revenue Calculator? You can learn more about -->HERE<--

If there is a specific ASIN you have a question about, feel free to reach out to Selling Partner Support and share with them as much detail as possible about why you believe the pricing should be re-reviewed. You can also see if there is any additional guidance they can share around balancing meeting Amazon Marketplace Fair Pricing Policy while maintaining Featured Offer Eligibility when it comes to pricing your products.

Hope the information above helps. Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday.

Sincerely, Cooper_Amazon
