New brand name replacing Generic - whats a Key Attribute ?
Hi All,
I have successfully been approved for brand registry. I wanted to edit one of my current live listings to state my brand name rather than Generic which is currently displayed. When i try to do this the following pop up message appears and i don't understand it. Especially the bit I have highlighted in bold, what's a Key Attribute, where do i find it ?
"To list your products after your brand is enrolled, enter the brand name exactly as you submitted it for brand approval, and specify a unique value for the Key Attribute that you selected in the brand registry application. You can always edit the product details later in Manage Inventory."
Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you, Sean

You basically can't change a Generic Listing to a Branded One. Essentially, amazon will see a change of brand as a new product, so a new ASIN is needed
"Only when the product being sold is either materially different, or changed in brand value, is it necessary to create a new ASIN"
"You may not change/add the ASIN title, brand or manufacturer name in the respective data fields (even if one does not exist, such as where the ASIN was created without a brand or manufacturer as a “no-name” or generic product) unless the updates include additional details, clarifications, grammatical fixes or removal of content that violates Amazon policy"
"Any major brand name change requests are considered re-branding and will not be supported. To protect customer trust and ensure catalogue quality, we ask that you create a new ASIN for the new product"
The final point may be useful for you though..
"If you believe that the brand or manufacturer name on an existing ASIN is incorrect, please contact Selling Partner Support and provide all available evidence to support your position."
