Change Listing Brand

I made a listing with "Generic" as the brand before I was brand registered, thinking I could change it later. Now I am brand registered. Amazon recommended me to delete my original listing (which I did), but when I try to make a new one with the same SKU and ASIN, Amazon tells me my brand doesn't match their records. I really don't want to lose my product. What do I do? Can I have Amazon send me my product back so I can relabel it?

Spend the next couple weeks studying Seller U and reading the Forum daily (a couple times a day).

Hit vacation mode in the meantime. It won't stop anything with your FBA problems but it will keep anything that you do FBM from causing any issues!

You would have been able to find literally dozens of discussions about the inability to change from generic to a brand.

" Amazon recommended me to delete my original listing (which I did)"

Who told you to do this without explaining the ramifications first?

Now, you do have choices BUT if you used a GS1 UPC Number on that item you will need a new one because THAT number is going to locked to the 'generic' item in the Amazon archives FOREVER!

You can choose to sell through the inventory at Amazon BUT there is a RISK if those items have a BRAND NAME on the packages! You can get in trouble for selling a branded product as 'generic'!

AND, you lose any reviews (if you get any) when you discontinue the 'generic' item!

You can recall the items and relabel them, but, again the UPC Number will need to be different and it will cost an arm and a leg since the items are probably spread across the country.

Also, Amazon is scanning and comparing ownership of the numbers at GS1 so 'aftermarket' numbers are going to be done on here eventually.

Good luck!

Hi @TRK_Productions_LLC,

Thanks for the post. Did @NEVERLAST's solution solve the issue.

If yes, feel free to mark it as “Most Helpful Reply”. You can do so by using the 3 dots in the corner of their post. This helps other sellers find the answer to your question at the top of the post just in case they find themselves in a similar situation.

If not, kindly share the case id that you opened with Seller Support.

Bets regards and have a good weekend.
