Does Amazon hide customer phone number for 3rd party orders?
I have a high end order with a shipping address that is a UPS store. The phone number in the order is on the internet with numerous complaints. One complaint mentions that Amazon is giving 3rd party customers an anonymous phone number for privacy. The phone number does go to Amazon. And has an extension. Is this true? Is Amazon giving out anonymous phone numbers? Should I ship this?

Amazon has done this for years. Phone numbers are routed through the Amazon system and are intended for carrier use only.
If you're concerned, use Amazon Buy Shipping, make sure this particular is covered by their guarantee, and require a signature for delivery. Or you can always cancel the order and take the metric hit.

I can imagine that for many people, having a high-end item shipped to a UPS store (which generally has mailboxes and other services for customers) where it would be held until you pick it up in person, would be preferable to having it delivered and left on your porch. That doesn't raise a red flag for me.
And yes, the phone number is annonomized; it does not belong to the customer, and will be recycled shortly after your order is completed. So any complaints you see linked to that number could be for any of the hundreds or thousands of people who have had that particular number assigned to their order over the many years Amazon has been doing this.

Anyone and everyone Do not call that number in the order. Amazon will reach out to you about trying to contact a buyer. That is a NO No NO, Amazon may ding your account for that. "Communications Outside the Amazon platform or something like that. You are only allowed to use the Amazon message system. It is actually better for you as a seller because it eliminates the they said this and they said this. If a buyer reaches out and requests a call or they call you, do yourself a favor and follow that call up with your interpretation of what was discussed that gives the buyer a chance to respond to your understanding. Sorry it has to come down to that but we always follow a call from any and all buyers (Note not many on Amazon) with a message and we open it with a basic statement Per our conversation this is what was discussed and how we interpret that discussion and then type in what we understood. Just past experience speaking here folks

Hello @Seller_9mPuUMk2ssjxc
Christine here from Amazon Forums.
I would like to thank @Seller_LImVvUWeyiCfQ,@Seller_nRFmxiQg4EGrw and @Seller_3FXAl4uehXWDl for your participation in this post.
Remember that if you follow Amazon's policies and ship to the address provided by Amazon, you should be protected under their seller protection policies in case of fraud.
If something feels off about the order, it's always better to err on the side of caution and seek additional verification or guidance from Amazon.
I would recommend contacting Amazon Seller Support before proceeding
Hope you all have a great day and happy holidays!
Christine.
