Selling text books

I just finished grad school and would like to sell some of my text books. I searched the ISBN and it says "not available"? Why can I not sell this book?

Many textbooks need to have permission from the publisher in order to list it here. If you do get approval (and for some publishers it is not easy), you may find that selling them is not worth the hassle. Textbook buyer's have the highest return rate of all buyers of books.

You may be better off selling them back to the bookstore. Yes, the initial price offered may not seem as appetizing as trying to sell them on Amazon, but trust me, you'll be better off in the long run. If you are looking for quick turnover by selling a few textbook, then you may want to consider Craig's list or if your school has a similar platform for selling to other students. Or even eBay.

If you plan on selling other items/books, then you may want to read up on what it means to be a business selling on Amazon. And yes, you are considered a business since you are planning on making money at what you do.

Amazon is not the place to turn over a few books right away and make a quick buck.

First of all, congratulations on completing Grad School!

But to address your question, there are a lot of counterfeit textbooks out there; to counter this, many publishers restrict their sale on Amazon.

I've been selling books here for 8 years; I still am not allowed to sell most books from Pearson, McGraw Hill, or a couple of other textbook publishers.

However, I've had very good luck with those same books on eBay, so if you want to spend the time, that will get your more money than selling back to the bookstore; but as a recent grad, I suspect that you really have other things to spend your time on, and would recommend going the quick and easy route of selling back.
