Just received email from Amazon regarding new On time delivery policy starting 9/23/24...

Email states that sellers using FBM must maintain a 90% or better on-time delivery rate. Doesn't sound like a big deal until I read that our stats are 91.7% on time delivery between 7/5/24 and 7/18/24.

Being that we shipped every single package the day we received the order makes me think that there will be plenty of sellers that will be dropped from Amazon. If we are just above the line and we ship100% of our orders the same day, how many sellers ship the next day or later and will be well under the 90% threshold?

Pay attention to your stats and see if you are going to have a potential issue.

"Being that we shipped every single package the day we received the order makes me think that there will be plenty of sellers that will be dropped from Amazon"

Amazon continues to tighten the screws and get rid of sellers that they consider to be doing a 'marginal' job of serving THEIR buyers.

This is just the latest move to thin the herd.

Personally, I'm fine with it. I'm in the same boat as far as shipping (almost) everything the same day as the order comes in.

As slow as sales are currently that is not a problem!

I'm blessed with as great Post Office that works wonderfully. I'm at 98% for the latest period but missing ONE package could be a problem if sales are dwindling further and any seller is under 10 orders in any measured period!

It doesn't help that UPS has gotten much worse post pandemic. The July 4th week was especially brutal for us. The Wednesday before the holiday we shipped every order the same day they were placed. But because July 4th was on a Thursday, UPS didn't scan many of the orders until the Friday after July 4th, and some were not scanned until Monday. Which means we lost 1-3 working days before they were actually in transit. And because Amazon counts the weekends, our on-time delivery rate dropped big time. This is after years and years of always having a near 100% on time delivery rate. To avoid any more issues, and the possibility of being deactivated, we will now close for the entire week when a holiday falls on a weekday.

To All,

You must increase your handling time and shipping transit times to avoid any delays reported in your orders. Some of you that ship daily but are still being affected likely have short transit times and short or no handling times. To avoid these issues, please follow these steps:

  1. Verify Your Shipping Templates: Ensure the transit times are correct. For example, if you are on the West Coast, make sure you have 5-8 days for East Coast deliveries, etc.
  2. Review Your Handling Time Listings: Most are set at 2 days since that is what Amazon defaults to, but you can increase them to 3-5 or more days. This way, you will add to your transit days with the handling time.

By increasing your handling and transit times, your listings will show longer delivery times, which may affect your ranking but will help prevent any deactivation if your delivery time drops below 90%. Allow some time for the adjustment and make the necessary changes as needed.

Amazon might implement these changes to remove another chunk of sellers. The FTC wanted Amazon to have a non-compete system, and it appears Amazon may eventually phase out most of us.

Good luck,

If Amazon can mind their own business that would be great. First they want to change your shipping settings. Then they are gonna throw you under the bus if you miss the new settings.

There are no words. Well, there are plenty of words, just no words to pass the filter to describe this non sense.
