How to Handle Multi-Package Shipments and Returns for Large Furniture Items (FBM, Overseas Warehouse)
Title: How to Handle Multi-Package Shipments and Returns for Large Furniture Items (FBM, Overseas Warehouse)
Hi Everyone,
We are a U.S.-based seller focusing on large furniture items fulfilled via FBM from overseas warehouses. I’m currently facing a few challenges and would appreciate any insights from sellers with similar experience:
1. Multi-Package Shipping for One SKU (e.g., Sofa Set - 1 Set = 2 Boxes)
Some of our SKUs represent a set of 2 separate boxes (e.g., one sofa = 2 packages). Since we’re not using ERP systems yet, we only have access to manually input tracking info via Seller Central. However, Amazon only allows one tracking number per SKU.
Question:
How do you handle FBM orders that require multiple tracking numbers for one SKU? Is there a way in Seller Central to enter multiple tracking numbers for the same order or product?
2. Return Issue: Only One Return Label for Multi-Box Product
When a buyer initiates a return for a SKU that’s a 2-box set, Amazon only generates one return label, but the buyer has two separately packaged boxes. This often results in lost or missing packages during return.
Question:
How can we set up or request two return labels for products that ship in multiple boxes?
3. Return Shipping Cost – Looking for Cost-Effective Options
All buyers return items using Amazon-generated UPS return labels, but the UPS fees are extremely high (especially for large items). I applied for the Prepaid Return Label Exemption since our item value is over $100, hoping to use FedEx at our own negotiated rates, but so far, it doesn’t seem to take effect.
Question:
How can we ensure the exemption is working? Any tips for reducing return shipping cost on large items when using your own carrier?
Any advice, similar experience, or Amazon support links would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

@Seller_sIkqNpT2QtUib Hello there! In the buy shipping help page, it states that:
"Buy Shipping does not support the use of different packages for separate parts of one product. It is not possible to buy separate shipping with different labels and tracking numbers for individual parts or pieces of one product listing."
If you are interested, you can look into shipping extra large items through FBA.
I'm hoping this reply drives some traction for other Seller responses/opinions on this topic. Thank you!
