Amazon won't let me update our Brand name as they claim it is owned by someone else

I am pulling my hair out with Amazon. I am trying to update our brand name for the items in our inventory but I keep getting this error message...

"You may not change the brand name on this ASIN. Use the brand name currently shown on the ASIN detail page. If you believe you are using the correct brand name, contact Selling Partner Support and mention error code 5995."

We are the brand owner and I've been trying to resolve this issue for 2 days now with Amazon support and they just keep keep sending me the same generic reply. There seems to be no way of escalating the issue to a manager to help me get it resolved. I have provided proof that we are the owner but I'm getting no where with them.

Is anyone else having this issue and if so have you been able to resolve it?

Unfortunately, in short, they won't do anything and no they don't care.

We have similar issues with multiple products of ours where they are listed under a different brand name. Even after providing proof they will do nothing.

We show how the listing is using the EAN associated with our brand and the fact that the vast majority of our items have our brand name printed on them and you can see this on the listing images. It doesn't phase Amazon "support" in slightest.

They claim that listings have to be accurate and should be listed under the brand the item belongs to, yet do nothing at all to fix problems caused by listings being under the incorrect brand names with incorrect details.

Honestly, you will get more bashing your head against a brick wall.

Why are you changing them?

Have you changed the name of your brand, or are they listed under the wrong brand for some other reason? If the latter, why?

At a guess, the seller support don't really understand the issue, or can't do the basic work required to see that you are the brand owner.

That said, it depends how much of a change you are making. Amazon themselves aren't clear on what is considered a 'minor brand change' here

You could quote that policy to them, and also show that you are the brand owner, perhaps via a trade mark certifcate?

I'm very sorry to say that this will not get resolved. This happened to us and after a long battle we had to delete the listing and launch a new one. Unfortunately this meant that we lost all our reviews from the product as well.
