Listing Inactive due to WEEE, but it isn't an electronic product

Has anyone received a notification from amazon to say their listing has been made inactive due to not having a WEEE registration even though their product is not electronic?
Our product is not electronic and does not need a WEEE registration, yet we are unable to relist this product unless we do get a registration from my understanding.
See below a snippet of amazon’s response:
“I understand that the product for the ASIN is not an electrical and/or electronic equipment but as per policy if a seller is considered a producer, then they have to register with the German authority Stiftung Elektro-Altgeräte Register (Stiftung EAR) to obtain a WEEE-Reg.-Nr. for each of their brand and type of equipment combination.”
If anyone else has had this issue, it would be good to hear how you have resolved this and made your listing active again.

Can’t say that I have resolved this, as I am still waiting for them to get to my case…

In your original listing deactivation email, there is a section that says “If you believe your listing is deactivated by error, blah blah…”. Go back to that particular section and follow the step by step instructions to appeal.

Basically, they will require you to open a case and explain why you think the listing is placed in the wrong category, and the case will be treated as an appeal to remove WEEE requirements from the listing.

However, I have opened mine on Amazon DE for more than a week ago, and they still have not gotten to my case yet. I can see that my case has been forwarded to “WEEE appeal team”, so I guess at least I am in the right direction. I am assuming they just have a mountain of cases to work through, so the whole WEEE deactivation thing might have been a poorly executed one.

Hi @ Maxgear_Ltd,

Thank you for reaching out!

Could you please provide a number of the ASIN in question?

Please, keep us informed once you appeal from this decision, as @obedientseller has advised.

@obedientseller, if you want me to check status of your case, you can send me a case ID via private message

Kind regards,
Julia.
