Customer wants to pay for refunded item that arrived late
Is there a way for a customer to pay for an item that they receive after getting a refund? I can't find an amazon policy about it. Twice lately I've had two customers request a refund for items they didn't receive which I processed. In both cases tracking showed "delivered," then the packages arrived a few days later. These two honest customers wanted to pay for the item. I told them they could keep the item, and thanked them for their honesty, but one customer didn't think that was right and would have paid anyway.

For a short time Amazon made it easy for buyers to do this. Mostly it just doesn't seem to work. Buyer has to call Amazon. They must know the order number of course, but more importantly must know exactly what they want to do. know this it is possible, and then somehow convince the customer support agent of both.
Customer support agent only sees: "A problem. Okay we fix third party seller problems by taking money away from the seller and giving it to the buyer." So they do. Sad but true. This has happened. Perhaps more often than Amazon recharging for an honest buyer.

Theoretically, once you refund, Amazon is done with the transaction. They see it as no longer thier problem.
However, a customer can call in and ask to be recharged for an order. Customer Service seems to have significant issues figuring out how to do this. It may pay for the buyer to ask for a supervizor, hoping that a higher level CS may know how to do this.

Good afternoon,
As others have mentioned, the buyer would need to contact Customer Support to request this process. You can advise them of this, and request they reach out to pay for the item.
