Amazon Category Sales Estimator Question

Does anyone have knowledge about how accurate those Amazon sales estimators are? The ones where you input the product ranking and category, followed by the marketplace (UK/ USA etc). Jungle Scout has one.

How spread out among sellers is this volume? For example, if there are 1,000 sales for that specific category at X ranking, the 1,000 sales are sure to mostly come from the 1st-page search result listings. But anyone, any more info on how spread out the sales are?
