Refund at First Scan?

A customer has received a refund for a return but the label has not been scanned by the USPS. I thought it had to be scanned before the refund is issued.

At any time amazon can give away your product and money as "customer satisfaction" Under these cases the customer doesn't need to return the item.

Are you sure that the customer has received the refund?

Or are you just seeing that Amazon has taken the funds from your account?

The normal way a refund request works is that when the request is made, Amazon will deduct the funds from your balance. Then when the customer completes the return (whether RFS or not), Amazon will pass the money along to the customer. If they customer does NOT return the product within the required timeframe (which seems to vary, but about 45 days), Amazon will credit the money back to your account.

On the Amazon returns page the package appears as Carrier picked up the package on April 11, but on the USPS site it says label created USPS awaiting item. It hasn't been scanned by the USPS.

This is amazon if you can figure out the policy let me know. We do nothing anymore if amazon wants the scammers to have a refund it does not matter what we think. So, we do nothing an amazon will take care of it. Amazon sucks in so many ways we have given up on what's right. It all seems wrong.

Are you signed up for CSBA (Customer Service By Amazon)? If so, the buyer likely called Amazon and requested a refund without doing a return and they obliged them. When signed up for CSBA, Amazon can do whatever they like with your money to make the buyer happy, you gave them permission to do so. You can try filing a SAFE-T claim, but since you are signed up for CSBA, it may be denied.

If you are not signed up for CSBA, the same thing might have happened (it does on rare occasion, I've had it happen once), but you are more likely to have success with getting reimbursed through the SAFE-T claim process than if you are signed up from CSBA.

You should be able to verify what has happened here by looking at your Refund Initiated emails from Amazon. Do you find one for this order? Does it say it was initiated by Customer Service?

Amazon is also doing this with replacements. Customer replacement orders are moving from pending to an actual order, before they return ship suspect order. Again, violating their own policies. Keep track of ALL “unfair business practice” and submit to your local DOJ and send complaints to FTC.

So Amazon has some weird policies for items. Was your item an item that cannot be returned? Just this morning we tried to open a return as a buyer, and the item was listed as not returnable. This doesn't mean not refundable though. I chatted with CS, and they let me know that the item couldn't be returned, but they issued a refund and told us to throw the item away (it was dog treat that caused our dog to have horrible diarrhea ALL over the house after just one, so nothing we would ever use again -thank god for carpet cleaning machines -if it was something we bought in a store we would have returned it to the store). We just wanted to return them, but because it was a consumable, a non returnable item, but it appears in our acct as a return, but when you click on it, it says "item has been refunded" and there's no return label accessible. Is your item a consumable?

AMAZON DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ITS SELLERS. LOOK AT ME A BUYER SAID I SENT THEM A FAKE PAIR OF FOSTER GRANT READING GLASSES YOU CAN BUY AT DOLLAR GENERAL FOR 8 DOLLARS SO GO FIGURE. I HAVE TO PROVE MYSELF WHEN IT IS COMMON SENSE THAT THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY FAKE FOSTER GRANT READING GLASSES EVER. I AM PAYING A ATTORNEY NEXT MONTH AND A LOT OF SELLERS SHOULD DO THE SAME THING. HOW CAN A BUYER SAY JUST ANYTHING ABOUT YOU WITHOUT HAVING TO PROVE IT. WHEN ON THE OTHER END YOU HAVE TO PROVE WHAT THE BUYER SAID IS A LIE NOT FAIR AT ALL
