Sponsored ads too expensive

I am quite new as a seller and have learnt that unless you use sponsered ads your product is unlikely to show up. The problem I have and think I am going to have to stop selling is the cost of the clicks are far too expensive. I have had 8 clicks which cost £10 and only selling my product for £9.99. I have tried putting down my bid but then its not competative. I have used my promotion credit but now thats running out is just not profitable to carry on. Can anyone tell me how they do it and make a profit please!!

I would say your product is too cheap to use sponsored ads.

For a product to sell well on Amzon you need to have good quality listing so make sure your listing, title, bullet point, description, images and keywords are optimised.

Sales rank is important as the better your sales rank then the more likely it is to show in search results.

You can use sponsored ads in the short term knowing you will make a loss to build up your sales rank. Then stop when you have built up a better sales rank.

You can try selling at a lower price for a time to build up a sales rank. This can be preferable to sponsored ads as it you are more in control.

If there are other sellers selling the same type of product you may struggle though to build up your sales rank.

Above all you need a product that people want to buy. Some products will always be poor sellers regardless of what you do.

All my sku's are under £10 I use sponsored ads on all of them & have been for 10 years. My daily budget has never changed & I use minimum bids. The Ads generate around 15% of my sales at an ACOS of 5%.

I have the same problem. I have a product that customers are happy with, when I actually get them. All my ratings are 5 stars. Like you, unless I pay sponsored ads I dont get views.

I have used ads temporarily knowing I would sell at a loss in order to get organic rank in search, but if I turn the ads off the organic rank falls a few weeks later.

I think unless your price point is high enough that you can afford to pay enough for ads, or your product sells enough for the organic ranks to remain, its just not possible to sell profitably on amazon.

Its a sign of a saturated marketplace.

I don't use ads at all on Amazon and I still get views and sales, but either I list on well established listings (possibly not misleading) or I create my own from scratch paying a lot of attention to the title, description and images. Some listings sold within a couple of days and the record was one that sold within one hour! I have lots of products though, I buy one or two to test them and if they sell I buy more etc.
