Your account has been deactivated

I have been selling on Amazon via FBA for a couple of years, without any major problems.
I now have got a message in red at the top of my home page “Your account has been deactivated”. then “click here to reactivate”, or some such phrase. ‘Status : Your submission is required’

This takes me to a page:

Identity Information

Review, edit and verify your personal and business information before submitting.

I have reviewed it, and all is correct, but cannot proceed until I ‘change’ the information. I have used my EU (Irish) passport and then driving license. I am not being asked to upload them, although happy to do so. I changed from passport to driving license and updated and submitted the information. This could take up to 10 days to be assessed! I then get an email to say I have been verified, so drop back into my seller central account, only to find that I am still deactivated! ARGH! HELP! Going round in circles. If I need to unload information-fine, just let me do it! Why not have a set of hoops to jump through at the start, instead of having to jump through them as we go?! So frustrating!

Are you a UK resident - registered with HMRC as a sole trader - with a UTR number ?

Do you actually live in the UK. You are selling via FBA UK so need to be VAT registered in the UK from day one if not.

Yes you do, as soon as your turnover hits 1k (yours is at least 3.5k) you need to register as a sole trader with HMRC, however, Amazon require you to register as a business from day 1.

I am guessing that the only way you may get your account back is to register with HMRC and declare any earnings and register for VAT and pay any due if you are not a UK resident. You also cannot sell in the UK as a sole trader unless you have an NI number.

Hello @ESVA

Virgil here to assist.

We are glad to hear that your account was reinstated! We truly appreciate your patience throughout this complex process.

We understand you faced a few roadblocks while appealing the deactivation and received notifications confirming reactivation, but the account remained deactivated.

Due to the confidential nature of the document verification, we are unable to identify the exact root cause behind the document’s acceptance or rejection.

However, we take your valuable feedback as a learning experience for Amazon.

Thank you for your post. I hope my response is beneficial towards your business.

Best Regards,
Virgil.
