1/9/2025 Post office closed

Just found out that the post office will be closing this thursday 1/9 to commemorate carter passing.

we are getting orders that are ship by 1/9... will amazon make necessary changes by tonight so that the shipments won't be late?

It's dollars to donuts that no -- Amazon will not make this right.

Typically they will "make it right" by sometime in the future -- after the hits to your metrics have healed anyway, there will be some sort of announcement about fixing the metric harm.

With never any attention paid to sellers who lose buy box eligibility due to something solely Amazon's fault.

If you're getting orders with ship-by of 1/9, then it sounds as if you are on Two Day handling; so get everything you can out tomorrow; and anything coming in Wednesday should show the normal (for you) ship-by of Friday, and you should be okay.

But to answer your question, it's pretty clear that, no, Amazon does not have the competence to take care of this minor change; there was even a post by a mod advising people to put their account on Vacation to avoid getting orders that might end up causing metric hits due to Amazon's inability/unwillingness to address the issue. Pretty sad, really....

If it's anything like the Canadian Postal Strike, Amazon announced a town hall meeting for strike inquiries, only a week after the strike was over and post office workers were already back at work.

And Amazon didn't acknowledge the strike at all for the full 4 weeks it was in effect.

And only got around to removing feedback due to the strike, today, back from November 15th.

More importantly, will Buy Shipping INR protection not extend as the packages can't be scanned on 1/9.

FYI my bulk mail center (back of post office) was still open at 1/9/. My other local post office's gate was closed on 1/9 so people couldn't even check their PO boxes. So I had orders still go out on 1/9.
