"We are currently not accepting applications to create ASIN(s) for the provided brand name"

The subject line is the reply we are receiving for fabric branded Maywood Studio, Riley Blake Designs, and Wilmington Prints. Of course we didn't know this when we ordered and purchased over 20 bolts of fabric manufactured by these mills. Although our current account is only a year old, we've been selling fabric on Amazon for over 10 years. This is the first time we've been unable to list fabric for this reason. An added problem is that all this fabric is either Halloween or Christmas themed (mostly the latter).

So, Amazon mods, or others in the know, can you tell me:

Is there a way to find out which brands Amazon is not accepting applications to create new ASINs?

Between the new FBA fee debacle, and being unable to sell a bunch of new fabric inventory, I have to prioritize creating our own website. The benefits of the traffic and sales Amazon can provide are undermined by these problems.

Amazon will not give you a list of brands. BUT, you can try creating new listings for a brand before you purchase the fabric. Of course, that doesn't mean that the brand will always be available. Can't remember from your other recent threads, but getting an LOA from the manufacturer may be helpful.

Always try to create the ASINs before you order from the vendor. Then, you will know if you can simply create the listing, if an application is required, or if Amazon is not currently accepting applications. Then, you can decide to not order the inventory if Amazon is the only place you sell.

Unfortunately, part of the ASIN creation process is taking pictures of the physical product from all angles, taking it outside its packaging and either providing a GTIN or getting a GTIN exemption.

While you won't have the product in hand, you will at least know that when you order, Amazon is or is not accepting applications to sell the brand. Of course, that could change between the time you verify it is approved, order inventory and then actually attempt to apply to create / sell on an ASIN.

It's a risk no matter what.

I have never attempted to list material so I'm not understanding this. Why do you need to list the brand name of a yard of material? Can't you just describe it and photo it and sell it that way? I made my own clothing for many years, beautiful creations, and I purchased 1) for color, 2) for type of material, 3) price. I have never looked at the brand. Actually I could care less what the brand is.

Hello @Seller_W0DG9XImyjylo

Christine from Amazon forums.

You need approval from the Brand Owner to list their products. You may not list a different product on the listing held by a Brand Owner. Many brands do not allow third party sellers to list their products on Amazon. This means sellers who attempt to list are told that the product is a restricted product.

If a seller has been explicitly approved by a brand owner, then the brand owner contacts Amazon to add you as a qualified third party seller.
