LITHIUM ION BATTERIES - Hazmat Classification
Hello,
@Dominic_Amazon @Cooper_Amazon @Sandy_Amazon @Glenn_Amazon @TaylorR_Amazon
Can anyone help with this weird situation? We shipped a couple of ASINs FBA. When we were creating the shipment, there was no flag that these ASINs are Hazmat or Dangerous Goods. Once FBA received the inventory, these units went into Reserved, we contacted the Seller Support team and they informed us that these are Classified as Dangerous Goods. We update the info, providing the battery component and other info on the product page.
We submitted the SDS info which was directly from the manufacturer. After weeks of back and forth, we receive the below email from Seller Support.
"Please be informed, we get an update from our internal team stating that ASIN B086MHYC1R is a prohibited dangerous good (hazmat), LITHIUM ION BATTERIES FULLY REGULATED and cannot be fulfilled by Amazon.
It is your responsibility to know whether the products you are shipping are regulated as hazardous materials. Hazardous materials that are shipped to Amazon fulfillment centers may be subject to disposal without reimbursement, even if they have not been previously identified by Amazon as hazardous materials.
ASIN is a prohibited dangerous good (hazmat) and cannot be fulfilled or returned by Amazon.
Existing inventory needs to be destroyed.
If you feel it's non hazmat we request you to submit SDS and wait 2 business days for the review to be completed."
Case ID 15665651381 and 15755026281
We are a small business and destroying over $80K worth of inventory will affect our business badly. If the dangerous goods classification can't be changed then can we just get our inventory back. We tried to create a removal order but it did not work.
Thank you for your help!

Hi @Seller_9hiXutxAOZZqx,
Dominic from Amazon here, happy to try to help. I can see in the case 15755026281 the team is still working on a solve for this. I am unable to escalate cases that are still in progress. Please continue working with the team on that case. If it is resolved and the issue is still occurring I can escalate.
Best,
Dominic
