For all of the new sellers undercutting
This ones for all of the new sellers to Amazon. You don’t need to undercut every other seller who you’re competing with, the buy box can be shared by all of us and we can all make a nice profit. Been seeing this happen a lot recently, and what’s funny is the undercuts from the newbies mean they’re breaking even at the very best. I’m sure all of the people who’ve been on here for a few years now have this seen this over and over. Why race to the bottom when you can race to the top?

completely agree - so many undercutting just to get the sales no matter what the loss in profit - just remember, you can’t say it out loud though cause its price fixing !

Agree, makes me smile when amazon broadcast that someone is selling my item for 1p less and suggesting I drop my price.
I set my prices and leave them, only time I adjust it is if I want rid of the stuff or royal mail puts their prices up.

Hello!
As a new seller just learning the ropes, I would say that there are a lot of online you tube trainers saying to newbies to start out with a low price to generate sales and therefore reviews to begin with. Then slowly increase the price as you gain traction…
Personally I haven’t been that keen on this idea, would be interested to hear established sellers thoughts…

See personally I dont mind because I see it as kalmer lol
I have one item at the moment I sell on auto pricing 9.99-10.99 - A new seller has it on Prime for 6.99 if say this seller buys in large QTY like we do the cheapest they can possibly get it for is 2.64 the FBA fee is £4 if they are paying amazon prep rather than doing it themselves they are going to run at a loss but hey it boosts the BSR to they realise or run out of stock lol

yeah we just let them give the stuff away whilst doing so they increase the sales rank and then when they have burnt out and sold all there stock for peanuts we cream the sales with a higher price and by now a high ranking

I would always say let them - Have the same with nearly all my listings - but over the last couple of years I have noticed a trend… those under cutting aggressively just do not maintain it over the long term. and they eventually disappear… sad thing is, some other person replaces them on the under cutting spree…

There is always someone new just starting out selling out of their spare bedroom or garage, with almost zero overheads and not having to charge VAT that will come in, undervalue their time and think selling a few bits a day is succeeding before they realise they have to pay themselves a living wage and replenish stock.
Those that wise up, survive, those that don’t fall by the wayside. There are always more to replace them and exasperate established sellers with unreasonably low prices.

Totally support that. Unfortunately though its not only newbies, which makes it even worse

I am defo going through Seller University too.
I guess the moral of the story is protect your margins during your launch strategy and and be patient!
