do I need to create a new ASIN with product upgrade?

We have a product that has been selling for over a decade. Recently, we have made a major upgrade, making it more durable and long-lasting. However, it is not 100% the same in terms of appearance—there is a 5-10% difference in the overall look, which people may / may not notice. Everything else remains the same. And of course, the product pictures will be re-taken.

I want to call it a "newer version" of the same product, but I am not sure if this is okay or if I should create a new ASIN for it and make a new variant. Please advise. thank you

Hello @Seller_mEV6T4fCqXvwM,

As @Seller_MyXY4Myx9zVcRsuggested, you may need to create a new listing for your updated product. If there's a difference in the product, even the slightest, means that it needs to be presented differently and listed on its own.

You'll find some guidelines around this in the Product detail page rules page. You must not use an existing listing for a new version of a product. This includes changes in color, size, material, features, and product name. Instead, create a new product detail page for each new version. For example, a manufacturer updates its streaming media player by adding a new remote control with four buttons instead of two. This product is materially different from the older version and it must be listed as a new ASIN.

Thanks and have a great day.
