Brand, trademark and private label: which is allowed?

Dear fellow Amazon-inans, if I may.
I am a newbie, have only one listing.

It is a small and light product and is selling ok for now.

I am currently searching for my 2nd product and am having difficulties understanding these issues:

  1. How to avoid “generic” in the “brand” when creating my listing. I understood from what I have read that i will need to proof to Amazon (send documents) that I have a website (for that brand), an invoice form the supplier (with that brand name) and a logo/brand name on the packaging of the product (genuine photo, on the palm of my hand). Is that going to be enough, is that according to Amazon rules? If I supply that, will I be able to put my brand name in that column “Brand” on my listing?

  2. With the 1st point done, do I have to apply/get a trademark (it takes a long time)?

  3. Also, do I have to register my brand with Amazon or can I not do that if I don’t have a trademark?

  4. Private label. When and if I am ready for a private label product, it doesn’t mean that i have to have trademark with it. Is that correct?

Apologies, if this is all on seller university - having a hard time going through and finding and understanding relevant things in this area.

Thank you very much for your time and help.

You can either apply for brand approval - no trademark required or website but your product / packaging will need the brand permanently fixed

Brand registry is what requires a trademark in the UK

Brand registry comes with extras such as a+ content and the ability to remove other sellers from the listings

Sell an item that isn’t generic and has brand on it…

  1. To sell a listing as a branded item you will need to prove that the brand is printed on the product or packaging somewhere, and if it is then the product isn’t generic…

  2. You don’t need to apply for a trademark unless you want to protect your brand from counterfeiting, it is nothing to do with Amazon

  3. You can’t apply for brand registry unless you have a trademark as it is Amazons portal to protecting your trademark on Amazon

  4. Covered in previous points…
