How do I process this return?
So I have had a return today. Buyer has returned item with no RMA or other documentation - just a returns postage label attached. The item was not even bagged or boxed - they stuck the returns label directly onto the item.
The only trouble is - the tracking number on the label does not match anything under 'Manage Returns'. So it looks like someone has sent an item back but not started a Returns Request OR they have not used the label issued by Amazon - and as such I am unable to issue a refund.
All I can hope for it that the buyer eventually enquires where is their refund - but honestly why did they just stuck the postage label directly onto the item and now expect me to refund when I have no idea who I should be refunding. I bet if they complain to Amazon I will get penalised for the late refund as well lol.

Have you checked under closed or completed returns, if a refund at first scan has happened it may not show under the open returns section.
If you can locate the return and it has been refunded at first scan try a safe t claim

Does the return address on the label help you locate the order?
If not I would just wait for the customer to contact you. Assuming the return label was purchased by the customer you shouldn't get penalised by Amazon in any way. They will not be aware of the return and the customer would unlikely to be able to get Amazon involved.

Check the tracking to see where it was originally posted. Compare that to your sales records for that product within the returns window to see which are within that area. Check to see if any have had a return started.
Failing all that, there's nothing you can do until they get in touch. Amazon shouldn't side with them if they didn't use the returns label Amazon have on file.

Yes - specifically that tab and the 'All' tab when I searched for the tracking number
There is no return address on the label
Says it was returned from Plymouth - but I'm unable to find an order for this item sent to Plymouth.
In fact - all the returns for this product have been are marked 'Prior refund applied' which infers that Amazon have issued refund on first scan. But if that was so then the tracking should match one of the orders yet searching on tracking brings up nothing (Ive even tried searching within last year period). As all refunds for this product over last year seem to have been processed by Amazon anyway then Im not going to worry - but it is very strange.
