Can ODR performance affect sales?

I've recently noticed a significant drop in my sales, coinciding with my account's Order Defect Rate (ODR) exceeding 1% and rising to 1.7%. While it's now at 1.4%, I can't help but observe the drastic impact this has had on my sales. Previously, I was consistently selling between 40 to 60 units per day, but now I'm only managing between 8-11

l also encountered another concerning issue: customers have been filing A-Z claims citing non-delivery of packages, despite the tracking numbers indicating successful delivery. These claims have resulted in Amazon providing full refunds to the customers. This discrepancy adds to my confusion about the relationship between ODR and sales performance.

Despite contacting seller support and being assured that the ODR doesn't affect sales, I find it hard to believe that there's no correlation. Could you provide some clarity on this matter? Will my sales pick back up after a certain period, perhaps after 60 days?

I think nobody can provide some clarity here because nobody knows this!

Customers are using search terms to find their products. Did you notice that your product has lost its place? From the second line to down the page for example? In this case of course the sales will tank.

But the question if Amazon is placing your product behind others because of the bad ODR? Amazon will NOT reveal that.

ODR can certainly affect your Featured Offer potential; even if you are still technically "eligible", Amazon may decide that they aren't sure enough about your service to push your offer on to the customer.

BB (or FO) can make a BIG difference in sales. But I doubt there is anything beyond that in play (but amazon will never say for sure)

I think it does. Whenever we get negative feedback or an IP claim, we notice a decline in sales for a few weeks before things return to normal.

Amazon punishes you for their skewed method of figuring ODR - like weighting negative feedback against the seller all the time.

try to use google to find your answer :

"Does your Amazon Order Defect Rate affect your ranking on Amazon? The simple answer is yes. Your Amazon Order Defect Rate is one important factor that can affect your ranking on the Amazon "

more details you can find numerous reasons : unsatisfactory customers when reading your feedbacks , AI bots from amazon etc....

So this one shop owner has found the cheat code for this, no Amazon customer service rep can answer my question on this and they haven’t done anything about it that I think it might be fine for us to follow suit. JKJK but seriously check out this store https://www.amazon.com/sp?ie=UTF8&seller=ASENPHF4EV3DQ If you look at the 5 star reviews 350+ come from 1 user named Farrah S, Amazon hasn’t done anything I mean nothing about this below is my original post to mods and nothing, I gave them detailed explanation and nothing. They tell me to report it, guess what. We can’t report customer reviews for stores only for products, complaints require and ASIN so you can’t report it. Amazon doesn’t even look at this section of your store.

Hi,

For sales, please check your Customer Feedback Rate.

If customers are leaving negative feedbacks, it not only worsens your ODR but for buyers, it may be a put off to see more negative experiences, especially recent.

Hope this helps. Thank you

I'd like to Thank you all for all the responses that have contributed to the engagement of this post. Each answer is valuable and can be utilized for an effective account management.

I recommend resolving all violations listed on the "account health" page to restore your account to its previous state before the violations occurred. This proactive approach ensures that your account complies with Amazon's policies and maintains its health and performance.

Let's break down how the Order Defect Rate (ODR) metric works to provide clarity on its effects.

The ODR metric operates within 60-day time frames. During this period, any orders resulting in defects will contribute to your ODR score. However, once this 60-day window passes, these affected orders no longer count towards your ODR. As a result, you'll see your ODR gradually improve over time as older violations drop off. Fulfilling orders without any violations also helps improve your ODR, bringing it closer to the target threshold of 4%.

For further information about ODR, please visit the Order Defect Rate page. There you can also learn more about Negative Feedback Rate, A-to-z Guarantee Claim Rate and Credit Card Chargeback Rate.

The forums community and I are committed to assisting you. Feel free to share how we can support you moving forward. We're here to help in any way we can.

Wish you all the best,

Nikki
