How important are categories.
In your opinion, how important is it to be sure that when you list an item for sale on Amazon, it is in the exact category it should be rather than as close as possible.
The reason I ask is because I thought that one of my ASIN's would do better in a different category. After 2 weeks of trying to get Amazon to change it, yesterday, I got. a reply refusing the change. I am now wondering how much it really matters.
I buy a fair amount on Amazon and when I am looking for something, I don't think I have ever paid any attention to the category; I just search for the item using the closest keywords.

Hello @Seller_0lQP368tpx7Wc,
Thanks for your post!
When people browse or search, products are grouped by categories.

We use an integrator that takes our website classifications and converts them to amazon browse nodes. Sometimes, our website classifications aren't that great - and the products have ended up in odd browse nodes as a result.
We've received an account health notification for it Inaccurate Categorisation. So it is important from that respect.
Though, if amazon decide something should be in a different category, and move it there, its a fight to move it back. Because they'll just give you some rubbish about 'customers are finding your product in that category'. This was the reasoning I was given, even when I had a blow torch kit sat in books.
