Product Listing Query
Hi all, hope someone can help. I have a product called say, XY Test CD ... if you search for XY Test ...nothing, nowhere to be seen. If you search for XY Test CD - it can be found. My product is pretty much the only product with this name, so why if you do a search for XY does it not show? Im pretty sure id sell more if the search was more logical...unless im missing something here?
Do others just keep listing their product into different categories..seems futile. TIA

When you do a search on Amazon it isn't really necessarily looking to match the search terms with a listing title. It's trying to show results that it believes buyers will want to see based on Amazon's algorithm.
So if i search for "music aptitude test" Amazon is largely going to show book results since that is predominantly what buyers have purchased after making that search. Adding "CD" to the search term basically encourages Amazon to broaden the search which is why your product will then show.
All that said, listing quality is also a factor that determines where (if at all) a product will show in the search results. In the above example where i searched "music aptitude test" Amazon is only showing your product where i force it to by restricting the results by price filters.
That indicates that although Amazon know your product probably should be shown, it is choosing not to show it as it believes it to be a low quality listing.
