Buy BOX with out stock
hello:
For one of my Listing, I am doing FBA and stock available, but amazon holding the buy-box with no stock ?
Amazon stock will come on 17/October, and still hold the buy box.
Due to this 9 out 10 buyer will not proceed to buying as they don’t check who else also selling.
Is this fair for amazon to hold buy box, where they don’t have stock available ?
Please advise

No it’s not fair, but that’s the way it is.
What do you expect as answer to that?

Most probably Amazon holds the BB as either the price from other sellers are above that price or Amazon price matching some competitor even they being OOS themselves but to maintain the price competitiveness with other retailers.
They might still share the BB as they generally do especially if you are an FBA seller.

You could report them to the Competition and Markets Authority for anti-competitive behavior.
If enough sellers complain and provide evidence then things might change.

Yes this is the Amazon way. They do it all the time and in addition we don’t get to see a feedback performance figure!! It is something I have to live with but to bee honest it doesn’t appear to have made a difference in some cases. The buyer wants and will find another seller.

I see this all the time. It’s a (very) clear breach of anti-trust but who’s going to go through the pain and dealing with this. An abuse of their position, contrary to popular belief, Amazon cannot simply do as they please because it’s their platform. They are governed by laws that cover this type of abuse of market position etc.

Amazon recently updated this system, now if a seller has an FBA listing and has stock inbound, they will start taking pre-orders in the same way as they do on Amazon’s own offers.
It’s probable that this update has messed up something with the algorithm that determines when it should and shouldn’t be used…

It sure isn’t ethical but it’s Amazon’s website and selling platform. You don’t have a god given right to use it, and if they want to hog the buy box, as it’s their website I’m sure there’s nothing you can do about it.
