A few days ago I received a listing policy violation warning.
"We have detected a policy violation that impacts your account health. If left unaddressed, it may lead to account deactivation.
Why did this happen?
You created one or more ASIN variations that violate our ASIN Creation policies. Selling partners may not:
-- Change the product’s detail page (parent or child) to become fundamentally different from the original product listed.
-- Change the parent product's detail page so it does not match the children.
-- Add incorrect child variations that are not true variations of the parent product.
-- Add multi-pack variations that are not manufacturer created to an already existing parent."
All our listings are complaint with this policy and we have gone through each and every concern raised with the above with screenshots and excruciating detail with links to our DTC site showing the products and variations.
Change the product’s detail page (parent or child) to become fundamentally different from the original product listed. We have only spruced up the detail page with better photos and a text to be consistent with our other similar products. NO fundamental changes have been made.
Change the parent product's detail page so it does not match the children. Nope, parent is a perfect match
Add incorrect child variations that are not true variations of the parent product. All the child variations are true variations that we as manufacturer sell on our DTC site.
Add multi-pack variations that are not manufacturer created to an already existing parent. The multi-packs that we sell are true multi-packs sold on our DTC site.
It took me there better part of the day to write the response with all the images and source links to address every aspect of the policy. I have no idea what the specific problem is so I have to address them all. And here is their response:
"We received your submission but do not have enough information to remove the variation warning from your account at this time. To remove the warning, please send the following:
-- The root cause(s) of the policy violation.
-- The actions you have taken to resolve the policy violation.
-- The steps you have taken to prevent this violation in the future."
The root cause(s) of the policy violation. Not sure, you will not tell me
The actions you have taken to resolve the policy violation. How can I resolve it unless I know what exactly we did?
The steps you have taken to prevent this violation in the future. We can start by having you tell us what we did.
Of course the three answers above are sarcasm, but certainly not unreasonable.
While formulating my second appeal, I discovered that the ASINs that were the subject of violation had been moved to a different product type one that we are not brand registered in and therefore unable to create. I am fairly certain that this is the root cause. Of course, without a clear explanation of the violation, I have no way to be sure... However, this had to have been done by an Amazon BOT and now we have to "Explain Ourselves".
We had another listing violation several months ago and after giving up and acknowledging the violation we discovered that Amazon had incorrectly categorized the ASINs and that triggered the violation.
So I have reported the ASINs that are affected and submitted that information along with more details into the appeal. I am nearly 100% sure that I will get the same response...
What I will do if this fails is delete all the ASINs (thousands of reviews) and start with fresh ASINs and no variations. Just one ASIN for each product and no options to choose from.
I am not sure why Amazon will not tell you "You violated this policy by doing this, Explain yourself"
Amazon Mods... Please report this stuff up the chain. It is insane that we have to defend ourselves without know what to defend ourselves from.
