Why Amazon?... Just why?
Six years ago I created a product listing as the only authorised UK distributor for a particular brand. Although I’ve had the occasional ‘fake’ sellers no one has actually made any changes to the brand.
However, a few weeks ago someone changed the brand to ‘Batman W’. They haven’t changed the original the brand name in the title, the descrepition, or the product packaging images, but they have changed the actual brand name so it leads to their store front.
Just when I was about to rasie a case the brand name went back to the original that I had listed six years ago.
However, it has now been changed to ‘Yocuby W’, so this looks like the same person who changed it before.
I have rasied a case and Amazon say they have contacted the brand owner. However, I know for a fact that they haven’t contacted the real brand owner because the real brand owner is not happy about their brand being misrepresented.
It seems that Amazon have just let this other seller change the brand name WITHOUT any evidence whatsoever and now Amazon seem to belive they are the real brand owner when the listing is screaming out otherwise.
I would make a test purchase but the strange thing is, they aren’t even selling on the listing. So why they have changed the brand I have no idea.
The $64 million dollar question for Amazon is, ‘Why is someone with NO connection to a brand, NO authorisation from a brand, and NO sales history with a brand allowed to change the brand just like that, while a person who has had all those thing for years is completely disregarded?’
Having looked at the storefront for ‘Yocuby W’ I see they are also claiming to own the ‘Jaguar’ brand. I also very much doubt whether they are an authorised merchandiser or for ‘Leeds United’ and ‘Man United’.
These are just a few of the brand names they now claim to own or claim to be official merchandisers of.
@Jessica please can we stop this insantiy? Is it any wonder the catalogue is a mess.
If this seller is not removed I will be contacting Jaguar, Leeds Untied, and Man United and Amazon can deal with the legal fall out.
I’ve had enough of this nonsense.

Seen this so many times on these forums and 99% of the time, it leads back to a chinese company. Amazon seems to have some dodgy allegiances with Chinese fake companies.

They have taken over my listing too - just before I got my brand registry application complete Also, Bateman W did the same to my product 2 months ago and changed it back to my brand name, but now it is Yocuby W… I probably just wasted £550 on IP accelrator because I was one step away before it get changed to Yocuby. This person needs seeing to - it is a complete joke.

Last time, the brand changed back to mine and think it was because i filed a violation so the entire product got taken down. I wonder if that encouraged them to change it back to the rightful owner. I don’t want to do that again, because if you report a violation, only the brand owner can get it lifted… so although it is the right thing to do, doing so gives you even less control - how absurd

@Jessica I see there was another thread about this particular seller only a few weeks ago. Quite a number of people reported them for changing their brand names to Bateman W also.
It looks to me that perhaps they recieved a policy violation and then removed the Bateman W name only to come back as Yocuby W.
This seller should be given a permanent ban, a policy violation isn’t good enough. If they go round changing other major brand names in future, Amazon could end up with some expensive legal cases.
To honest the system is fundamentally flawed. No one should be able to change another brand name and claim ownership just like that.

This happened to me too, but by 2 different sellers. First it changed to TATUNER and then a week later to Venker. Even the product category was changed to musical instruments, and then to Grocery a few days later. The affected listing was created by me and I am the only seller. When I contacted Amazon and explained the situation, they said they have contacted the brand owner. I contacted them on 3 occasions and got the same reply so I gave up.
I just don’t understand Amazon’s policies. Some stranger who doesn’t sell the product can freely change the brand name and even the category (multiple times) but how come I can’t change it back although I am the owner of the listing?
So I feel your pain.
@Jessica please can you assist at all in bringing these issues up internally? As you can see, there are several sellers affected by this listing hijacking issue.

Been there - was a total nightmare eventually I got control of my own page. It does seem insane that you take months to resolve these issues (if ever) but someone can just flick them over in an instant.
I think Amazon have some rotten eggs in there SS staff. My trail went back to China also…
Policies are applied and ignored with Amazon. They have a successful business model but the most depressing aspect of my business.

@Jessica This is happening all the time now. Images being changed and incorrect information being changed! When wet try to change it back “ROBOTS SAY NO!” Get a grip Amazon this is not CUSTOMERSENTRIC which is what we all want! Good luck.

Similar thing happened to me - We’re brand registered with trademarks in UK/US and a bunch of our listings got hijacked… And after jumping through hoops with trying to get it resolved between seller support and brand registry whom passed it to each other in the end they just went nuclear and killed the listing!
All they had to do was change the brand name back to what it was originally which by the way seemed impossible for them to do.
BTW - @MonkeyBoy hit the nail on the head with his comment with 99% leading back to Pandora’s box…

Bateman W - A new post a week about this company hijacking peoples listings. Hopefully Amazon see any kind of correlation with reports and appeals against this behaviour and does something about it.
