!!! Non-EU companies applying for an Italian EU tax number and maintaining the validity of their current tax number must pay a deposit of 50,000 euros.

!!! Non-EU companies applying for an Italian EU tax number and maintaining the validity of their current tax number must pay a deposit of 50,000 euros.

I want to know what everyone thinks about this? I hope to get some advice. Please!

The 50,000 euro deposit is really too high, and we lack confidence in sales at the Italian site.

This is the German seller forum where sellers can exchange information and help each other. As a rule, we have nothing to do with the requirements of the Italian tax authorities for non-EU companies. You should discuss this with them. Presumably taxes were evaded for years on marketplaces like Amazon and in the end the sellers no longer existed when the Italian tax authorities wanted to collect their rightful taxes. So it's partly understandable. Unfortunately, there were and still are some black sheep, i.e. sellers from non-EU countries, who did not adhere to the (tax) rules on European sales platforms. Naturally annoying for honest sellers - but we can't help you here.

Where did you get this information / or who is asking you to do this? I haven't heard anything about it and the sum seems to be made up out of thin air. Does the Italian tax office or your tax advisor demand this?

Can you post an anonymized version of the letter here as a screenshot?
