Selling a Business with an Amazon account
Hi All,
I’m after a little advise before I look into this further. I am looking at selling my limited company which has Amazon, eBay, our own shop as well as warehousing and offices. Does Amazon allow changes to the account, such as a change of limited name / primary contact? People must of sold their companies over the years of which they traded with Amazon and am wondering if anyone can shed any light on the matter? Any advise would be greatly received.
Thank

I’m afraid you cannot sell on your Amazon account- it’s specific to you so Amazon don’t allow it.

I have changed the limited company name a couple of years ago, it was fine until verification came around, then a minor nightmare for a few weeks but all good once done and they were happy it was all legit.

Does Amazon allow…
- …change of limited name? You would need to enquire. Amazon state change may be allowed exceptionally. Anyway that is not the proper method nor required if you transfer the correct way. see below
- …change of primary contact? Yes, absolutely
The proper way to sell your business is to have someone buy shares in your company via a holding company.
Mr ABC creates ABC Ltd to buy 100% of your shares in BealesofBath Ltd. Once completion takes place ABC can be added as admin user and you will be removed.

To be fair, it only says “generally not allowed” which implies in some circumstances it could be.

The policy clearly says that:
”If ownership of a business changes for any reason, the new owner has to establish a new Seller Account.”
Since Seller Accounts come with feedback and order history, just like the policy says, it would be unfair if someone was able to simply purchase this (possibly to circumvent their own account’s suspension).

So we can transfer our souls to Amazon!!!
My heart breaks
Amazons policies by-laws soul sucking words are quite funny now.
I remember reading a couple of weeks ago in one of Amazons policies. If you supply a business on Amazon you have to consider supplying Amazon if they come calling. If I read it right
Just put in your terms you only supply to businesses with a turnover of £100,000 or less.

As the Op states, it is a Ltd company, there is no reason why the company can’t be sold, with no change to the Amazon account.
A limited company is an entity in itself, whereas, with a sole trader, the company is the person (or persons with a partnership) The owners are the shareholders and may or may not be involved in the running of the company, including the Amazon account. Directors are employees and can change, just like any other staff. There should be no reason to prevent all the shares being sold, whilst the company itself remains largely the same.
