GSPR & FBA

We are assuming if you block out NI from shipping settings GSPR does not apply?

Also if we were to add a product to FBA (which had ever been on there before) we could block out NI or just not select it?

We have played around with a listing where we were specifically asked whether the product was to be sold in Ireland? We were assuming this was an Amazonism and they really were trying to differentiate between the UK and split NI out. They just added the location as Ireland as a whole not NI.

We are blocking NI out of our web business full stop and trying to make sure that we have no involvement with NI based on GSPR.

As far as we know - you can't block out Northern Ireland from FBA.

The Ireland question, could that be related to the fact amazon are introducing and amazon.ie store in 2025?

Hello @Seller_CJAn9FclIoBJn,

I'm Angie, part of the UK forum community. It's a pleasure to greet you.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to selectively block Northern Ireland from your FBA shipments. FBA Shipping Programmes and Export offers only two options:

Disabled: Limits orders to UK postal addresses only.

Worldwide: Allows orders from over 80 countries, including the European Union.

Summary of changes to shipping

New shipping zones are now live on F*****. Please note these options are currently only available on desktop and mobile. They will be coming to the F**** Seller App in the next few days.

Shipping Zones:

• The UK now excludes Northern Ireland

• Europe has become EU & Northern Ireland

• ‘Rest of the World’ excludes EU & Northern Ireland

• 'Rest of the World' excludes the US

• 'Rest of the World' now includes non-EU countries and everywhere else, including Canada, Australia, India etc

What this means:

• All items that previously shipped to Europe are now set to ship to the EU & Northern Ireland.

• If you no longer want to ship to the EU or Northern Ireland, you can use the updated Bulk Edit tool on your seller dashboard to remove EU/NI postage from all your items or selected items.

• If you continue to ship to the EU, you can choose whether to set your shipping rate to Northern Ireland at your UK rate or your EU rate. You can do that on the Bulk Edit page.

Worth noting:

• Any existing products currently or previously for sale on F**** are exempt from the new EU GPSR legislation (as they have previously been made for sale to the EU/NI market - see UK Govt guidance) as long as those products are in compliance with the 2005 UK GPSR. This includes existing stock of product lines that are already on the market.

• Products that were listed for sale on F**** before 13 December 2024 and then ‘relisted‘ after that date are also exempt from the new EU regulations – again providing they comply with 2005 UK GPSR. However, if you make any changes to that product or list it as a new product after 13 December 2024, then the new EU GPSR regulations will apply if you make it available for sale in the EU/NI.

• In order to sell any new products (not relisted products) listed after 13/12/24 to the EU or NI, you will need to select ‘EU & Northern Ireland’ in your shipping options and confirm that you meet the requirements to ship there - see the article for more details.

• We will be making a record of all items for sale on F**** at approximately 11pm on 12th December in order to provide sellers with a record, should it be needed, of which items were placed on the EU/NI market before 13th December 2024 - read more.

• If you choose to continue to sell these existing products to the EU, we recommend including information on the outside of the package that outlines why this product is exempt from EU GPSR (such as date made) in order to avoid customs delays.

Our next jobs:

• Adding fields for safety information and Authorised Representative details. These will be ready before 13/12/24.

• Incorporating Crown Dependencies (Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man) into the UK shipping zone.

• Pushing all the above changes to the Seller App.

They seem to have interpreted it correctly.... just sayin!

Does this mean that any seller without an EU based responsible person, or not compliant in other ways with GPSR, will need to recall their products from FBA before Saturday? Otherwise they will have Interpol knocking on their door. This may be 90% of sellers using FBA.

So @Angie_Amazon if you can’t stop selling o Northern Ireland why is it that Amazon won’t let sellers add the data required on the listings to be compliant with GPSR?
