NEW SELLER NEEDING ADVICE

Hi all I am a new seller and have opened a professional account, first I'm not sure if that's the best way to start,

2nd I have noticed that all EUROPEAN marketplaces are active on my account and I only want to sell to the UK. Am I likely to get charged for all the other market paces and is there any way to manually remove them from my account?

to answer one of your questions- it’s one charge for all uk and eu marketplaces. Once through verification- usually several weeks for a business account after providing all your business info from HMRC - then just make all marketplaces you don’t want to sell in , inactive (holiday mode settings)

Please read and re read seller university to learn how Amazon works- it’s not easy.

I would downgrade your plan (not the same as account) to individual until you you are ready, passed the verification and have reasonable sales. You will not then be charged £30 a month, but more on each sale. You can upgrade again when it's worth it.

Are you registered as a business, sole trader or Limited (if you are resident and running the business from U.K.) on Companies House?

You say 'professional' account - that is only the name of the selling plan where you pay £30 a month. If you intend to sell new goods bought to sell for profit then you must be registered with HMRC as self-employed (possibly sole-trader to start off with - you don't need to be a ltd.co with Companies House)...and have a BUSINESS seller account on Amazon.....and yes, downgrade to the individual selling plan until your account is fully verified - which can take quite a while, as they need to check both your personal ID info and business details.

As said, if you only want to sell in UK you need to make all the other countries inactive, via holiday settings, and yes, read Amazon Seller University - there are LOTS of metrics and policies that you must stick to - being an Amazon seller is not a walk in the park, and your account can be deactivated for the simplest of errors.

Hello @Seller_OZqtXOoaJdv81,

Let me address your concerns and provide some information about the selling plans:

Starting with a Professional account: This may or may not be the best way to start, depending on your business goals and expected sales volume. The Professional plan have a cost per month but offers more features and tools.

European marketplaces: It's common for all European marketplaces to be active by default. You won't be charged for marketplaces where you don't list or sell items. However, to focus only on the UK, you can set the others is “Holiday” which will deactivate them. Visit Manage Holiday Settings for more information and steps.

Selling Plan Summary:

Professional Selling Plan:

  • £25 monthly subscription fee
  • No per-item fee on sales
  • Access to advanced inventory and order management tools
  • Ability to set your own shipping rates for non-BMVD products
  • Eligible for Featured Offer placement
  • Access to business customer features and promotions

Individual Selling Plan:

  • No monthly subscription fee
  • £0.75 per-item fee when an item sells
  • Basic listing and selling features
  • Amazon-set shipping rates for all products
  • Limited access to inventory management tools

The Professional plan is generally better for sellers expecting to sell more than 35 items per month or those needing advanced selling tools. The Individual plan might be more suitable for occasional sellers or those just starting out.

Consider your expected sales volume and need for advanced features when choosing between the two plans. You can always upgrade or downgrade your plan later if your needs change.
