Approval constantly denied for Grocery & Gourmet Foods
Hey all,
I’ll keep it short and sweet - my business purchases wholesale pick and mix sweets, re packages in different forms (bags, boxes) and sells them on.
When applying for approval to sell in the Grocery & Gourmet Foods category, I am being denied consistently on the basis that my invoices (which show purchase of wholesale sweets) are not showing the product I am trying to sell and do not match my product packaging (pictures of the front and back of my bags containing the sweets).
I am completely lost and and unsure what action to take, grateful for any advice.
Thanks

Because you are dealing with bots, who will answer with whatever copy/paste answer seems relevant.
Amazon will not hold your hand and guide you through the process, it assumes that you will take the responsibility to run your business correctly and follow its rules, and then you will get in trouble if you don’t/
You are mixing up individual and sole trader. The first is a person selling off their unwanted items (such as a book they have read) the 2nd is operating as a business and must be registered and such and follow the rules and regulations required by law and Amazon (which are not always the same)

are you fully verified on amazon as a business - either sole trader or Ltd company ?
what brand are you applying for ?
If you are splitting these down, do you also have the relevant Food and hygiene certs from your local council ?

Thank you for taking the time to reply Dedez.
This makes sense to me, is it shared anywhere in any documentation so I can read further about how individuals can’t be approved for the grocery category?
I am sorry I am unsure what you mean by the second point, you do not need an LLC to operate as a sole trader and be a registered business. I am wondering if you are right, why am I being denied on the basis my invoices are incorrect? Is it normal for Amazon to not share the real root cause?
thanks again Dedez, I am learning a lot!

you are not an individual
if you are buying and selling for a profit, you are a business and should be registered as such - this can be as a sole trader or a ltd company
are you registered with HMRC at all ?
certain categories do not allow goods to be sold as Used, and private sellers can only list goods as Used

That reply was in response to what Dedez stated, he indicated I may be seen as an individual and that could be the root cause - I think you’ve mis understood the point!
I am able to list the units as NEW which indicates to me I have correctly configured my account.
Thanks

you haven’t been registered as a business seller if you have not uploaded your UTR number or ltd company details

Got it - I will correct this.
Any idea why the reason for denial would be irrelevant invoices and not what you’ve identified here?
Thanks

yes
you are not registered as a business seller - so the invoices wouldn’t match your details you’ve provided
and you’ve rebranded them as your own product but are uploading invoices from other brands
as a side note, if you are not Ltd, you need to remove that statement from your website stating that you are

"This website is operated by Laces and Co Limited (Manchester M5). "
I mean just wow!
Not a ltd company, appearing as one.
Not trading as a sole trader.
And not even registered as a business!
@Laces_Co Did you do any research before starting out?
What you are doing is currently illegal. You need to stop immediately and work out how to go about actually trading. Or you are going to get yourself into a world of trouble.

Also don’t mix up account type and selling plan
Individual, sole trade, limited etc are all account types.
Individual (75p per item) or professional (£25 a month) are selling plans, they are badly named, and very confusing to new comers. Any account type can be on either plan, they are completely irrelevant to each other.

That’s the problem now with HFSS. We already sell in a number of categories affected, but the way in which Amazon have implemented this legislation, is, quote, “an utter shambles”. If you launch into any of these categories as things stand, with no sponsored clicks and no promotional opportunities, you will start on Page 137 and stay there. Pointless and if I were you, I wouldn’t waste my time.

Is the op paying VAT on sales on its website?
