National Day of Mourning is January 9th.
President Carter just passed away yesterday. As these events are not very often, few people know about the National Day of Mourning . Its a typical government holiday and the stock market is closed, as well as government offices and the post office.
Please plan accordingly, as there will be no mail pickup or delivery on that day.

Are you sure about USPS not working? I know that they shut down for Bush, but I'm seeing various places stating that, so far, DeJoy has not stated that they will follow tradition, as it's apparently not a legal nor contractual requirement. If you've seen an announcement, please share where.

The Sellers Ask Sellers Forum, has a long inclusive thread on this.

@KJ_AmazonIs Amazon setting this National Day of Morning on 1/9/25 up as a USPS Holiday so that Delivery Promises and Buy Shipping are estimating shipping days accurately? I don't see it as a Holiday in Shipping Settings yet.

We need to know if Amazon is treating like a federal holiday? Do we need to go into vacation mode in order to avoid late shipments. UPS will probably be operating.

I asked at usps today and no mail service at all on the 9th, the system here doesn't recognize it, of course...this is going to be trouble with a boat load of late shipments. So now what amazon? All of this is just getting too complicated and difficult, then of course the seller is at fault. We should all not have to shut down our business and go on vacation mode and turn off sales just because of the ridiculous stressful rules and grading about when you can ship and can't. Can't ship early, get in trouble for that too!

hot take: who cares? just use ups or fedex if amazon is going to be it's typical malevolent tyrant self.

No mail on Thursday - every business in the country has figured this out except for Amazon.

I assume everyone got this email from Amazon below as well.

The only issue, however, is that we already have some orders that are showing that they need to be shipped by tomorrow. Picture below.

Typically, Amazon will process on their side to make the "Ship by date" the following day after a holiday. Anybody else seeing this? Are we to assume that the 1 day extension will just happen internally or has Amazon not made these adjustments in their system to reflect this yet for the "Ship by date?" Any thoughts? Maybe we need to wait a little longer and Amazon will make these adjustments or if they already have, the adjustments are not yet reflected to sellers..

Where are you getting those amazing deals? USPS tends to cost me $4.50 to $9, and rarely will Fedex/UPS even touch a package for less than $9.
