Removal of customers names! angry!

The new idea to remove customers surnames (Leaving only Mr - Mrs -Jo etc) is creating massive confusion, especially now at our busiest period and creating, ongoing problems, delays to me and and poor service to our customers - GRRRRR - This is a massive backward step. IF a customer calls with a query, I can no loner refer immediately to their order by name/date, so have to take their number and call them back after opening many other orders on that date to clarify or answer questions).

If you have your RM or courier account (except myHermes) linked with Amazon, then the info is being pulled in correctly. We think this is trying to cut down information being entered manually and use automation instead.

If you download reports, especially the payment transaction or VAT report; the info is in there. may be a few days delay in getting the info but much easier to search for customer info if an order number is not forthcoming from the customer.

The only annoying thing is if we have to resend then you really have to dig deep to get the info to generate a label.

You don’t understand - we sell via four channels, including telephoned orders - A customer phones, we ask “How did you buy” - Reply Amazon, we log open Amazon and view the list of sales - We could at a glance, know that Mrs Jones has been sent. But now all we have is the prefix. The customer doesn’t have their ref: Number at hand which means we have to ask when they bought the item and open each order until their name is revealed. Maybe we are doing something wrong, but if so, I would like to know what. I do know it was simple and straightforward UNTIL the whole name was removed.

Schedule order reports to run daily. We have set our reports to show Buyer Name, Recipient Name and Billing Name - and all the names are in there, even when not shown in SC.

Search order by product name, SKU ETC. ?

I do know what the OP is going through, we get this on e-mails from customer who purchse in our shops. No product information

My advice find a work around, Amazon will not change.

It is a nightmare, knowing which orders you have printed off or not or which you have dispatched or not when all the names are mrs miss and mr and to many orders with the same… it is driving me nuts, even more dotty than usual having to click on each order to work out what is what.

At this time of year when we are busy it is not good. I wholeheartedly agree with you trug_makers1

Why do Amazon keep “fixing” things when they are not broken… But never fix the things that actually need fixing? has to be Amazon employees just trying to keep their jobs by doing useless “improvements”

For us, thankfully, we’ve always kept the details on a spreadsheet, which includes the customers name. Whether Amazon like it or not, it’s something we feel is necessary for us to run smoothly, it’s also important for us to be able to provide HMRC with such info, should it ever be required. It’s a bit more work but we literally enter the details of the sale into our spreadsheet as and when they come through or in batches as we prepare the item(s). It’s also a fantastic way of being able to drill into all the stats of the sales over the past months, etc, and our spreadsheet is mighty in size now but invaluable firstly to track a problem and secondly to give us an insight into what the business is doing, when and how. The sheet records our sales over multiple platforms and will automatically calculate the relevant fee’s from the sale figure as well as collate the information into what’s selling best and monthly/yearly totals for everything, beats p*ssing around with accounting software!.

Am I missing something here? Why would a customer call (phone). If they did then you are not able to deal with it outside of Amazon messaging service anyway.

We tell people to contact our dedicated Amazon customer service through Amazon as the number you found on the website is for Website sales, a different team.

Never had an issue and that way you have the customers order details attached to their message
