Royal Mail leaving parcels outside
Anyone else having issues with Royal Mail leaving parcels outside lately?
I don't recall it having these issues before with RM, only with couriers like Evri. Is this something they started to do? We've had a spike in these kinds of issues.
Surprisingly, some have been left outside the doors of community apartments. I really don't know how any sensible person thinks its safe to do this, you wouldn't leave your own property out in a hallway never mind outside where anyone can take the parcel.

I forget when it came into effect, but either early last year or early this year they changed the Safeplace scheme such that the recipient no longer needs to have registered a Safeplace with Royal Mail or their depot, the postie is to use their discretion to decide on a Safeplace for them.
In theory, they're supposed to leave a card saying where the parcel has been left, but in practice a lot of posties don't have cards to leave.
The scheme has come about to prevent the posties having to bring back as many parcels to the depot. It's a lowering of service standards that hurts the sender, the recipient, and the posties on the street all in the interests of saving on funds and manpower for the company. Honestly, it's outrageous. I was waiting for a fuss to be kicked up in the media, but it never came.

We've had this for many years now. Just today, someone saying they were in and postman never knocked. Now the parcel is "no where to be seen" ..

Yes, it's a great shame that they can't even knock on the door as a sign.
To give Evri their due (yes, I DID say that), if you send a parcel as Signed, they do actually knock and only leave it if the door is opened or similarly with a neighbour; and photographic proof.

I have started putting NO SAFEPLACE DELIVERY in the safeplace box for each Click and Drop label I apply.
It hasn't completely stopped parcels being left outside, but it has very dramatically reduced the amount of issues we have with it.

Just a few days ago, the courier left the package in the grass outside the customer's company during delivery, causing the package to be stolen, which made me very angry.
