VAT on Advertising

The VAT on Advertising used to be available from Tax Document Library.

But now I can only download them from the Amazon Advertising Billing section, the problem is the date range is different from actual date which we need to do the VAT claim for example from 1st January to 31st March 2025, so where can we get the accurate data in this case?

You can't. That's the only invoices now available. You need to make them work for you.

The billing period is irrelevant for the purposes of accounting for VAT. What is important is the Tax point. This can be one of several different dates but is 'usually' the date of the invoice or the date of the payment if this is earlier.

As the Billing periods for the Advertising spans multiple tax periods you are only expected to account for the VAT based on the date of the Invoice itself.

What you appear to be more concerned abou tis the accrual or prepayment of advertising to align the cost of the advertising to the accounting period. This has nothing to do with the invoice dates and your accountant/bookkeeper can assist you in calculating the approximate amount to put into your accounts.

For information please open the search for 'VATTOS4100 - Basic tax points: introduction' on the Gov uk website.
